Mid-Summer Piano Recital
Music in Dumfries are pleased to invite you to a piano recital of Bach and Chopin by Jill Crossland

Jill Crossland pursues an active concert and recording career. She has played extensively in the UK and including many appearances in major venues such as Wigmore Hall and South Bank in London, Sage Gateshead, Bridgewater Hall, Vienna Musikverein, Leipzig Gewandhaus. In Scotland, Jill has made a number of appearances in Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well for music societies in Melrose, Invergordon, Oban, Mull and Aboyne Jill has recordings of Bach, Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin and other composers with Warner and Signum Classics and other labels, all of which have had excellent reviews. In particular, her complete Bach ’48’ was described by the Penguin Guide as ‘a remarkable achievement, ranking with the finest.’ Jill’s most recent recording, of Chopin on Signum Classics, has had over 440,000 streams.
Craigdarroch, built by William Adam in 1729 over the old house dating from the 14th century, was the home of Annie Laurie after she married Alexander Fergusson in 1710. She lived there for thirty three years.

a fund-raising meal on Thursday 12th September
Please join us for an evening of fine food and music at the Buccleuch and Queensberry Arms Hotel in Thornhill on Thursday 12th September at 7.30pm. Music will be provided on arrival by some of our very own, and very talented, Music In Dumfries members. The cost of the meal includes a £10 donation to Music In Dumfries.

There is no need to pay in advance, but it is necessary to inform me if you are planning to attend, as the hotel need to know numbers in advance.
